What this is
A new aftermarket upper steering shaft bushing for Honda ATVs, built to replace Honda OEM part 53221-HC4-000 (current Honda supersession 53221-HC4-004). Honda lists it in the parts catalog as BUSH, STEERING. It seats at the top of the steering stem and locates the steering shaft in the frame, keeping the steering tight and centered.
Verified fitment
Confirmed on the Honda steering-shaft parts fiche for: Honda TRX200 and TRX200D Fourtrax (1990-1997), TRX300 Fourtrax 2WD (1988-2000), TRX300FW Fourtrax 4WD (1988-2000), TRX250EX Sportrax (2001-2009), TRX250X (2009-2018), TRX400EX Sportrax (1999-2008) and TRX400X (2009-2014). Honda used the same upper steering bush across this whole air-cooled Fourtrax and Sportrax family.
What it does NOT fit
This HC4 bushing is not the right part for the TRX90 or TRX125 (those use 53221-HC3-...), the TRX350 or TRX450 Foreman (53221-HM7-004), or larger machines such as the TRX500 (53221-HN8-...). The early 1987-1992 TRX250X also uses a different bushing (53221-HB9-670). Always match the 53221 number on your own model's steering-shaft diagram.
Cross-references
Genuine Honda numbers: 53221-HC4-000 and 53221-HC4-004 (the same part, revised). Common aftermarket equivalent: Caltric MS105.
Before you order
Open the steering-shaft diagram for your exact model and year, confirm the 53221 bushing number, and note how many your machine uses. If your steering feels loose or clunks over bumps, replacing this bushing - and inspecting the steering shaft and the lower steering bearing at the same time - brings back tight, precise steering.
