This 12-volt starter motor is a direct-fit aftermarket replacement for John Deere equipment powered by Yanmar diesel and gas engines. It uses a Hitachi-type permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) design with clockwise rotation, an 8-tooth pinion gear, and a two-ear mount -- the same configuration as the original Hitachi system starter it replaces.
