This shear pin and bow tie cotter pin set secures the auger to the drive shaft on 2-stage snow blowers. The shear pin is engineered to snap when the auger strikes a solid object -- protecting the gearbox and drivetrain from costly damage. The bow tie cotter pin locks the shear pin in place and releases easily for fast field replacement. Keeping a spare set on hand is strongly recommended throughout the winter season.
