This aftermarket replacement outer valve spring fits the intake and exhaust valves on Fits Caterpillar's large-displacement V-series diesel and natural gas engines, including the D342, D379B, D398, D398B, G398, G398B, D399, and related engine families. The outer spring works in tandem with the inner valve spring (9M5349) to maintain proper valve seating and timing throughout the engine's operating range. These springs are used in pairs with each valve -- 24 outer springs are required for a full D398 overhaul.
