This aftermarket replacement ratchet pawl (Pawl-Ratchet) is a rewind/recoil starter component used in Fits Briggs & Fits Stratton (B&S) small engines. The pawl engages the starter cup on the flywheel when the recoil starter rope is pulled, transmitting torque to crank the engine, then releases once the engine fires. Worn or broken pawls are a common cause of a pull-start that spins freely without cranking the engine. This part replaces OEM part number 808166 and is sold individually.
