This aftermarket replacement piston crown assembly (Cat part 1258869 / 125-8869) is the upper portion of the two-piece piston used in Caterpillar 3406B, 3406C, and related 3406 series diesel engines. The shallow-bowl combustion bowl crown interfaces with the piston skirt and carries the piston ring grooves in the 14.6-liter inline six-cylinder engine. It is commonly needed during in-frame overhauls and top-end rebuilds on this platform.
